Kontinental Hockey League Streams Gagarin Cup Finals, All-Star Game Live In Virtual Reality

The Kontinental Hockey League is the latest professional sports league to dive into live virtual reality broadcasts, and it did so with offerings of some of its top events.

The Gagarin Cup, which is awarded at the conclusion of the KHL playoffs, was hoisted in VR last week after SKA clinched the championship with a win in Game 5 of its best-of-seven series with Metallurg Magnitogorsk.

St. Petersburg, Russia-based VR company ProSense helped deliver the 180- and 360-degree views on 360.khl.ru with three broadcasts during the finals starting with Game 3, and the VR would have been available had the series gone longer.
