Taylor Braley and Kirk McCarty became the highest Southern Miss MLB draft picks since 2011 on Tuesday.

Braley, a junior, was taken by the Miami Marlins in the sixth round with the 179th overall pick. The slot value for that selection is set at $253,800.

McCarty, a junior left-handed pitcher, was the 222nd overall selection (seventh round) by the Cleveland Indians, where the slot value is set at $179,500. He is just the fifth pitcher in Southern Miss history (and first since 2003) to be taken as high as the seventh round.
