Southern Miss calls to South Alabama, 78-55

Southern Miss did not have an answer for South Alabama’s Georgia Boyanov and Shaq Calhoun in the first half.

The guard tandem scored 29 of the Jaguars’ 37 points before the break. In the second half, the rest of the visiting team joined the party. Led by Boyanov’s 23 points, South Alabama breezed past the Golden Eagles 78-55 Wednesday at Reed Green Coliseum. Calhoun contributed 21.

Cortez Edwards paced Southern Miss with 15 points, while Tim Rowe knocked down 12. Rowe added 6 rebounds and 5 blocks, the most blocks by a Southern Miss player since Gary Flowers had 7 in 2009.
