Southern Miss spent Sunday engaged in a fruitless search for pitching.
Old Dominion leveled five Golden Eagle hurlers with 18 hits (the most Scott Berry’s club has allowed this season) on its way to a 9-2 victory at Pete Taylor Park. In doing so, the Monarchs (28-12, 12-6 Conference USA) became the first team to take a three-game series in Hattiesburg since April 19, 2015.
As a result, Southern Miss’ lead over the trio of ODU, Florida Atlantic and Charlotte for the top spot in the league standings has shrunk to one game.
