Storme Cooper developed a flair for the dramatic as a true freshman for Southern Miss in 2016.
The second baseman, who finished his first season in a Golden Eagle uniform with a .235 batting average and 25 RBIs, even came to be known by his teammates as “Clutch Cooper.” His knack for coming through in pressure situations at the plate made him a valuable piece of the puzzle.
In Sunday’s series finale against Northeastern, Cooper was clutch again. He came to bat with runners on second and third and two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning of a 7-7 tie.
