USF's Hassan Childs arrested for road rage incident

TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Police have arrested South Florida defensive back Hassan Childs for a road rage incident that occurred Saturday night in Tampa that resulted in him being shot three times.

He faces three counts of aggravated assault and one count of misdemeanor marijuana possession. He was taken into custody at a local hospital, where he is still being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooter, Jovanni Jimenez, is claiming self-defense, saying Childs pointed a gun at him, his wife and 3-year-old son.

The incident happened at 11:15 p.m. local time. Jimenez was driving home eastbound on Skipper Road near the USF campus when a Chevy Malibu began to tailgate and attempted to pass him, according to police.
