Broward prosecutors never knew about Hallandale chief's stalking case

Five years ago, the Miramar Police Department failed to send a stalking case involving Hallandale Beach'scurrent police chief, Dwayne Flournoy, to the Broward State Attorney's Office.

While that decision violated no state law, it left the agency responsible for prosecuting wayward law enforcement officers in the dark about the allegations, said Chief Assistant State Attorney Jeff Marcus.

"We only know what we get," he said. "If there are criminal allegations of a police officer, those should be brought over.
