Will Muschamp: Texas A&M-Texas should play every year

Will Muschamp isn’t involved in the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry any more. But that isn’t keeping him from sounding off about the longtime series.

The South Carolina coach – and former Texas defensive coordinator – called for the schools to resume that series.

“The Texas-Texas A&M game ought to be played every year,” Muschamp said. “It’s a great game for the state of Texas, also for college football.”

Before joining the SEC, Texas A&M competed alongside Texas in the old Southwest Conference and later the Big 12. The rivalry, which began in 1894 and had been held annually since 1915, was ended after the 2011 season when the Aggies moved to the SEC.
