Weather cancels deciding baseball game between Gamecocks, Gators

COLUMBIA — Sunday’s deciding third game between No. 1 Florida and No. 6 South Carolina was canceled due to weather.

The game was interupted in the fourth inning, when thunderstorms rolled through Columbia. Due to more impending weather, the game was canceled, and will not be made up. Statistics from the three and a half scoreless innings played will not count.

Under NCAA rules, teams must wait a minimum of 30 minutes after a nearby lightning strike, with the clock starting over again each time another strike is detected.

The game was set to resume at 4:35 p.
