COLUMBIA — The start of Sunday’s deciding third game between No. 1 Florida and No. 6 South Carolina was delayed an hour due to inclement weather in the area.

Fans at Founders Park were told that the game had been suspended due to unsafe weather and lightning within eight miles of the stadium. The scheduled 1:30 p.m. start was initially pushed back 10 minutes before the suspension was announced.

Under NCAA rules, teams must wait a minimum of 30 minutes after a nearby lightning strike, with the clock starting over again each time another strike is indicated.
