Former South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier says he doesn’t want any kind of retirement ceremony anytime soon.
School president Harris Pastides had offered the chance for Spurrier to be honored almost immediately after his retirement last fall, but the Head Ball Coach declined the opportunity. Spurrier told The State newspaper of Columbia on Tuesday that his stance has not changed.

“I don’t know if this year is a good time. Let Coach (Will) Muschamp and his guys take over and so forth. A year or two from now might be good,” he told the newspaper.
