Gamecocks remain sixth in newest Baseball America rankings

COLUMBIA — Afters splitting a weekend series against the nation’s No. 1 team cut to two games by weather, South Carolina remained No. 6 in the newest Baseball America Top 25 released Monday.

The Gamecocks (34-9) won a one-run game against Florida on Saturday, after the Gators rallied to take the opener on a pair of home runs in the ninth. Sunday’s third game was scoreless in the fourth inning when rain and lightning interrupted play before ground crews could cover the field.

The game was canceled and will not be made up, leaving the Gamecocks one game ahead of the Gators in the SEC standings with nine league contests yet to play.
