Former Gamecocks star Tiffany Mitchell named to WNBA All-Rookie squad

COLUMBIA — Tiffany Mitchell has moved from South Carolina to the WNBA, but the awards continue for the former Gamecocks star.

Mitchell on Thursday was named to the WNBA’s All-Rookie team after a debut season in which she averaged 8.6 points and 20 minutes played per game for the Indiana Fever. The Charlotte native was the ninth overall selection in April’s WNBA draft.

Mitchell was a three-time All-American and two-time SEC Player of the Year at South Carolina, where she proved a cornerstone in the rise of the program to national prominence under head coach Dawn Staley.
