Draft drops give former Gamecocks Adams, Cooper chance 'to prove a lot of people wrong'

COLUMBIA — After being the fastest player at his position at the combine, South Carolina tight end Jerell Adams had to wait until the sixth round to hear his name called in the NFL draft. Count analyst Todd McShay among those trying to figure out why.

“I was really surprised, I’ll be honest with you,” the ESPN analyst said Monday on a conference call. “I had I think a third-round grade on him, and as one of the top four tight ends in the class. I was really surprised to see him fall that far. But who cares where you get drafted?
