South Alabama set to face one of country's best RBs in San Diego State's Donnel Pumphrey

A legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate will be on the field at Ladd-Peebles Stadium this weekend.

No. 19 San Diego State (3-0) and running back Donnel Pumphrey visit South Alabama (2-2) at 7 p.m. Saturday. Pumphrey, a senior, is the nation's leader rusher.

At 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, Pumphrey isn't the biggest back. But what sets him apart is an explosiveness reminiscent of the 2005 Heisman Trophy winner, Jaguars head coach Joey Jones said.

"He kind of reminds me of Reggie Bush, a 180-pound back that's really a one-step cutter," Jones said. "He can be running full speed, it only takes him one step to change direction at a great angle.
