JAGUAR FOOTBALL FOURTH IN PRESEASON SUN BELT POLL

NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference released this year's preseason football poll on Thursday, and the league's 12 head coaches have picked the University of South Alabama to finish fourth this fall.

The Jaguars received 98 points to garner their highest finish in preseason balloting since being voted third out of 11 teams in 2014.

Appalachian State collected seven of 12 first-place votes and is the preseason choice to win the title with 136 points, with the Mountaineers followed by Troy (127 pts, 2 first-place votes) and Arkansas State (122, 1). Louisiana-Lafayette rounded out the top five after posting 95 points and a first-place vote, with the rest of the poll including Idaho (84), Georgia Southern (82), Georgia State (48), Louisiana-Monroe (46), New Mexico State (41, 1), Texas State (31) and Coastal Carolina (26).
