With fall training camp coming to a close this weekend, SMU head coach Chad Morris and his staff are drawing closer to their decision on which true freshmen will redshirt and which play in 2017.
Morris' plan this week and weekend to give his projected starters some reps at the beginning of practice before turning to his reserves to let them compete for playing time in the final scrimmages.
Then, he and his staff will sit down and determine which of the 2017 signing class are ready to play as true freshmen.
"We're getting close to that," Morris said.
