Fort Worth’s new $540 million arena is far from being finished, but it’s already picked up a couple big events.

On Wednesday, the American Athletic Conference announced Dickies Arena will host the conference’s men’s basketball tournament from 2020 to 2222. The venue in Fort Worth’s Cultural District that seats 13,300 for basketball games will also host the first and second rounds of the 2022 NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

The announcement also happened to come after the Texas House wrapped up its special session, eliminating any chance of the controversial bathroom bill to be passed this summer.

AAC commissioner Mike Aresco said the conference’s announcement just happened to coincide with the bill’s death.
