Seahawks lose safety Thomas for rest of season

RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas has no chance of returning this season after suffering a broken left leg (tibia) against the Carolina Panthers, Pete Carroll said.

"He's got a serious recovery that he's got to go through, and it's going to take awhile," Carroll said.

Thomas suffered the injury in the second quarter when he collided with teammate Kam Chancellor. Carroll said he didn't have a definitive timetable on Thomas' recovery and did not know if the safety would have to have surgery.

A five-time Pro Bowler, Thomas had started 118 straight games (playoffs included) to start his career.
