‘He’s the alpha dog of that program’: Why the Seahawks were so intrigued by Jarran Reed

The words "culture" and "leader" get thrown around a lot in football — so much so that they often are empty-calorie words. But Jarran Reed’s personality is intriguing, if for no other reason than he could be Seattle’s emotional leader of the future.

The Seahawks were clear in what they liked about Alabama defensive tackle Jarran Reed, Seattle’s second-round pick this year.

“He’s the alpha dog of that program,” said Jim Nagy, the Seahawks’ southeast area scout.

“He’s a guy that’s in the front of the line,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “We love all that about him.
