With the 199th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks selected Garrett Scott, an offensive lineman out of Marshall University.

However, what seemed like the beginning of a dream professional career for Scott may have ended all too early - with a rare heart condition being spotted during a team physical which may keep him from ever playing football again.

Scott was waived by the Seahawks, but not until after he signed his full rookie contract and received a signing bonus of around $100,000 which he will be allowed to keep going forward.

If Scott clears waivers, the Seattle Seahawks will place him on their injured reserved list which would land him an extra $303,000 for 2014, per Sports Radio KJR.

In addition to the monetary compensation that Scott will receive for this season, Seattle GM John Schneider states that the team will continue to support him as time goes on:

“We think highly of Garrett as a person and as a football player. The team is committed to supporting Garrett in the months to come and will continue to help him determine his next steps.”
