Seahawks News: Recapping Seattle's First Week Of Free Agency

The NFC champion Seattle Seahawks have had a banner free agency period already and it's only been just under a week.

Seattle got things started on a great foot two days before the official NFL free agency period even began, re-signing Marshawn "Beast Mode" Lynch to a three-year, $31 million deal -- ending all the retirement rumors in one fell swoop.

The other big move wasn't a free-agent acquisition at all. It was the trade that saw center Max Unger and the #31 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft moved to the New Orleans Saints for elite tight end Jimmy Graham and the Saints' 4th-round pick in 2015. Graham is locked down for three more years at a combined cap hit of $27 million -- a relative bargain for the best tight end in the NFL and Russell Wilson's new favorite red zone target.

This offseason hasn't been without its losses, though, with CB Byron Maxwell (Philadelphia), guard James Carpenter (Jets), and former Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith (Oakland) all jumping ship.

The loss of Maxwell is the one that could sting the most, as he was Richard Sherman's partner across the field in the secondary. In hopes of making up for the loss, Seattle signed veteran CB Cary Williams and CB Will Blackmon.

Aside from a litany of minor moves, that's pretty much the landscape for what's been a very interesting offseason for the Seahawks.
