Seahawks News: Michael Bennett, Bruce Irvin say defense is better than last year

The Seattle Seahawks aren't lacking in confidence heading into the 2014 NFL playoffs after turning on the jets midway through the year en route to capturing the NFC's top seed and a first-round bye.

As always, it Seattle's defense which has been the true star, pummeling teams week in and week out in historic fashion.

“We’re the best defense of all time, so the confidence level is always up high,’’ Michael Bennett proclaimed, via the Seattle Times.

Six weeks ago, that may have seemed boastful with the Seahawks' playoff future in doubt at 6-4.

However, six-straight wins and the prospect of the NFC's best having to come through Seattle has everyone thinking big.

“I’ve said it every week and I’m going to keep saying it: Right now, we’re playing better than ... all of last year,” Bruce Irvin said. “Guys are putting their egos to the side, guys are buying in and playing for one another. You don’t find that around the league.”

Better than the stifling defense of last year's Super Bowl champs? Now, that's impressive.
