Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll stated Monday that Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor is battling ankle problems that could end up plaguing him for the entire 2014 season.

"He's had ankle issues for some time," Carroll said, via Terry Blount of ESPN.com. "It was on fire and really bothering him against San Diego [last week]. It may be an ongoing issue."

Monday marks the first time that anyone around the Seattle Seahawks has mentioned Chancellor's ankle injuries. He underwent hip surgery in the offseason, causing him to miss all of Seattle's training camp and most of the preseason.

Carroll added that he believed the team did a fine job of working around Chancellor's ankle issues in the team's 26-20 victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday, believing that they might have found a way to stem the problem during game time.

Chancellor will have two weeks to rest his ankles as the team heads into a bye week before traveling to D.C. to face the Washington Redskins on Monday night, October 6th.
