Minor roster move
The Mariners made a minor roster move, removing right-hander Joe Wieland from the 40-man roster and outrighting him Class AAA Tacoma. That leaves the Mariners’ 40-man roster with an open space. There is no immediate corresponding move, but it gives Seattle an open spot if a move is needed.
To outright Wieland, the Mariners had to place him on waivers and have him clear the remaining 29 teams without being claimed.
