Gomez could be latest piece Rangers have added that could keep Mariners at bay

The defending AL West champs have been aggressive in acquiring players in order to win another title.

CHICAGO — When the Mariners travel to Texas to face the Rangers in a key American League West series starting Monday, there will be a new but familiar face in a Rangers uniform patrolling the outfield of Globe Life Park.

Carlos Gomez is the latest addition to the new-look Rangers as they try to add pieces and offset injuries in their pursuit to win a second consecutive division title.

It will be a different Rangers lineup than the last time Seattle faced them, June 3-5 when the Mariners were swept in the three-game series in Arlington.
