Ogren's First Career Shutout, Roering's Second Half Goal Push Women's Soccer Past UC Irvine

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – In the final nonconference game of the season, Santa Clara women's soccer beat UC Irvine 1-0 Thursday night at Stevens Stadium. Irvine was the first team the Broncos have played this season that did not make the NCAA Tournament a year ago.

The game was even in the first half with Santa Clara holding a 3-2 edge in shots. The second half started the same way until the Bronco offense was able to build toward what would be the only goal of the game.

"We're really pleased with the performance tonight," Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith said.
