PLAYERS TO WATCH

OffenseRB Deontae Cooper: After six seasons and three knee surgeries at Washington, a now-healthy Cooper will play his senior campaign for the Spartans. "He's going to bring us the physical player," quarterback Kenny Potter said of the 5-11, 200-pounder. "He's a guy who's going to give us that 'it' factor in the backfield to bring us a balanced offense." Cooper rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns against Oregon State, but that was three seasons ago. DefenseCB Andre Chachere: The Spartans lost Jimmy Pruitt and Cleveland Wallace, who combined for 62 career starts at corner and spent the past few weeks in NFL training camps.
