Price exits early, but Canadiens rout Rangers

The Montreal Canadiens lost All-Star goalie Carey Price to an injury again Wednesday — but they didn’t lose the game.

Price exited with a lower-body injury after the second period with his team leading 2-1, but the host Canadiens didn’t let up in a 5-1 win over the New York Rangers.

Devante Smith-Pelly and Alex Galchenyuk scored in the opening 1:29 of the third for the Canadiens, who have handed the Rangers two of their four losses in regulation.

“You want to keep your foot on the pedal,” said Smith-Pelly, who did not know Price was hurt until backup Mike Condon led the team onto the ice for the third period.
