Peter DeBoer will be introduced as the new head coach of San Jose Sharks either Thursday or Friday, according to a source close to the organization. The story was first reported by ESPN.
DeBoer, 46, will become the ninth head coach in Sharks history, replacing Todd McLellan who “mutually parted ways” with the franchise in late April after the team missed the playoffs for the first time in his seven seasons behind the bench.
DeBoer was a finalist when McLellan, previously an assistant coach for three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, was hired on June 12, 2008.
