The San Francisco Giants still have a few spots on the Opening Day roster that are up for grabs, including the fifth starter spot. Today’s starter, Ty Blach, made a clear statement that he is ready for the job.
Blach threw 85 pitches while he went six innings, allowing 2 runs and seven hits. He is currently in a battle with long time Giant, Matt Cain, for the job. Cain, who is struggling in Spring Training has been battling injury and inconsistency since 2013.
Cain was one of the Giants best starting pitchers in team history, but there is doubt as to whether the veteran will get the nod in April.
