CINCINNATI - Tim Lincecum will host his long-awaited throwing showcase in Arizona on Friday, a month into a season that has not been kind to the back end of the Giants' rotation.
Nobody in the organization publicly or privately will connect these developments, but manager Bruce Bochy acknowledged Wednesday that in light of Chris Heston's struggles as a long reliever and demotion to the minors, the Giants' interest in Lincecum is stronger now than when the season began.
"I think that's fair to say," Bochy said before Wednesday's 7-4 loss to the Reds, which ended a 3-3 trip.
