Giants scratch Brandon Belt with wrist sprain

SAN DIEGO — Two games into the Giants’ second half, the gloom and doom continues.

The latest word from sickbay is first baseman Brandon Belt was scratched from Sunday’s lineup with a sprained left wrist, caused by a check swing Saturday.

Belt left the clubhouse Saturday night with the wrist wrapped and was in manager Bruce Bochy’s original lineup Sunday. While Bochy was meeting with beat writers in the dugout an hour and a half before first pitch, trainer Dave Groeschner called him aside with the news Belt wouldn’t play.

Belt has a team-high 16 homers and is hitting .
