Giants right-hander Derek Law receives encouraging news after MRI on elbow

SAN FRANCISCO – Moments after their most productive offensive game in 17 seasons at AT&T Park, the Giants received more good news.

An MRI confirmed that right-hander Derek Law does not have any major structural damage in his right elbow. Law, who went on the disabled list earlier Sunday, said he has inflammation from the breaking of scar tissue, and expected to be fine after two weeks of rest.

“Nothing with my ligament, nothing with my flexor muscle,” Law said. “All that is great.”

There was concern because Law’s velocity had dipped from 93-94 mph to 90-91, and he told the coaching staff that he wasn’t getting the same extension on his pitches.
