Giants prepare for Mets' flamethrowers by torching Padres 13-9

Hey, it’s Dan Brown (@mercbrownie) here for Andrew Baggarly, who is gearing up for his trip to the Big Apple. If you need me — dbrown@mercurynews.com. Here’s today’s game story, along with a few blog-only bonus notes:

SAN FRANCISCO – They came in the form of sinking line drives and blasts toward the alleys. There were balls hammered down the foul lines, over outfielder’s heads and off pitcher’s legs.

The Giants’ 16 hits came every which way during a 13-9 victory over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday.

Brandon Belt went 3 for 4 with 5 RBI, Matt Duffy went 3 for 4, Hunter Pence was on base five times and … well, you get the idea.
