Giants’ Gaylord Perry to get statue at AT&T Park

The Giants are adding another statue celebrating their pantheon of Hall of Famers.

The club announced Monday that on Aug. 13 it will unveil a statue of pitcher Gaylord Perry, who won 134 games for the Giants to start a 22-year major-league career that resulted in his 1991 Hall of Fame induction.

The guess here is the statue will not include a water feature. Perry was famous for a spitball — or at least the perception that he threw one.

This will be the fifth Hall of Famer statue around AT&T Park. The other four depict Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Orlando Cepeda and Juan Marichal.
