Several times Saturday afternoon, things happened that were indicative of how the Giants have played since the All-Star break.
Then something highly unusual happened.
Newcomer Eduardo Nunez, who probably had no idea the Giants were 16-for-116 since the break with runners in scoring position, roped a bases-loaded double to ignite a three-run rally.
It was a sign of life not seen lately in Giants games, and they went on to beat the Nationals 5-3 by scoring twice in the seventh inning.
Hunter Pence made the day complete by making his first appearance in 49 games and doubled off the wall in his first at-bat.
