CINCINNATI - Brandon Belt is clearly a different hitter in 2016 and said it stems from a series against the Reds in San Francisco in September. He had a light-bulb moment and discovered the approach at the plate he long had sought -- just in time to take a knee to the helmet diving back to second base, which led to his season ending early.
"I found the approach I liked and then I got concussed," Belt said. "Fortunately I remembered it."
He carried it into spring training and the season. The results over 29 games are eye-opening.
