Giants' roster likely intact at Deadline

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- When the Giants want to stage a sell-off, they discount merchandise at their souvenir stores.

Executive vice president of baseball operations Brian Sabean and the front office struck the word "rebuilding" from their vocabularies long ago.

Basically, if you're a Giants fan, you don't have to worry about whether the club will be buyers or sellers in June or July as the non-waiver Trade Deadline approaches. The Giants believe in protecting their assets. They abhor dismantling. The last front-line player they traded at the Deadline was second baseman Ray Durham, who went to Milwaukee in 2008 for outfielder Darren Ford and Minor League left-hander Steve Hammond.
