Cordier outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento

The Giants may be keeping a big arm in their system.

Right-hander Erik Cordier was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento and has three days to decide whether he will accept the assignment. Because he has been outrighted before, Cordier can refuse the assignment. Cordier was designated for assignment May 17 after his rehab assignment ended.

The 29-year-old has a 100 mph fastball but has been unable to stick in the Majors. Cordier gave up one earned run in seven appearances for the Giants last September and struck out nine in six innings.

Cordier was shut down late in the spring because of a forearm cramp.
