It’s tempting to assume the 49ers found rock bottom last week when they were battered by a fellow bottom feeder in a 26-6 loss at Chicago.
Their performance was embarrassing, but the cherry on the humiliation sundae came in its aftermath. In the triumphant locker room, the 3-9 Bears didn’t find their first victory since Halloween worth celebrating because, well, they trounced the one-win 49ers.
“---t, teams like that, we’re supposed to beat them,” outside linebacker Pernell McPhee said. “Ain’t no secret. We’re supposed to win that game.”
Ouch. How could the 49ers go any lower?
