Report: Ex-49ers coach Kelly interviewed with Jaguars

Chip Kelly interviewed for the Jaguars’ head-coach opening before Jacksonville promoted interim head coach Doug Marrone on Monday, ESPN reported.

Kelly’s interview with the Jaguars occurred shortly after he was fired by the 49ers on Jan. 1 following a 2-14 season in his only year with the team. If hired by Jacksonville, Kelly would have been a head coach of three NFL teams in just over a calendar year. His three-season tenure with the Eagles ended when he was fired on Dec. 29, 2015.

Kelly, who went 46-7 at Oregon from 2009-12 before joining the NFL, was approached by Cal after the school fired head coach Sonny Dykes on Jan.
