Michael Wilhoite began the 2015 season as the second starting inside linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers before an ankle injury kept him out the remainder of the season. Wilhoite did not meet expectations during his time as starter and was rather disappointing — hence the three-way competition for the ILB spot between Wilhoite, Gerald Hodges (who started last season after Wilhoite’s injury) and Ray-Ray Armstrong.
Wilhoite has the talent to be a good inside linebacker in the NFL, but he needs to show a lot more than he did last season.
