49ers quicken the offensive pace in their first TC practice

The 49ers conducted their first practice under the lights in front a smattering of fans and it looked crisp. What stood out was the pace of plays, which head coach Jim Tomsula carried over from off-season practices.
During the team session, the ball was hiked in about 20 seconds.
“We tried to not go past 22,” Tomsula said after his first training camp practice as a head coach. The offense was getting to the line quickly, even when the team was making a line change from the first- to second-stringers.
Starting running back Carlos Hyde likes the quick pace, it’s something he was used to coming from the spread attack he played at Ohio State.
