49ers News: San Francisco Interested In Signing Mike Glennon

The San Francisco 49ers are still pursing a trade for Kirk Cousins, but if they are unable to reach a deal with the Redskins, they will target Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

If the 49ers can’t land Cousins, they are expected to be among the teams interested in Tampa Bay free agent Mike Glennon, per multiple sources. Atlanta’s Matt Schaub and Chicago’s Brian Hoyer – both of whom, like Cousins, have played for Shanahan – are other possibilities.

Glennon is an unrestricted free agent this offseason after spending the past two seasons as Jameis Winston's backup in Tampa Bay. According to Yahoo Sports's Charles Robinson, Glennon is expected to receive a contract in the range of $15 million per year.

The Bears and Jets are also targeting Glennon to be their starting quarterback, while the Steelers want Glennon to be Ben Roethlisberger's backup.

Glennon was the starter for part of his first two years with the Bucs, completing 57.9 percent of his passes for 4,025 yards with 29 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 19 appearances.
