49ers News: 49ers waive WR Brandon Carswell

49ers news is busy today, with the San Francisco 49ers allegedly looking to reunite with former 49ers and free agent wide receiver Brandon Lloyd.

Perhaps to make room for such a move, the San Francisco 49ers have just waived wide receiver Brandon Carswell, per Mike Wilkening of NBC Network's Pro Football Talk --

"Wide receiver Brandon Carswell, who spent the 2013 season on injured reserve with the 49ers, was waived Friday, the club said."

Originally out of the University of Southern California, Carswell endured a torn ACL in his first day with the San Francisco 49ers last June.

In addition, according to the NFL's official transaction board, Brandon Carswell was waived "without designation," meaning that a failed physical isn't part of the reason why the 49ers chose to waive him.

After this cut, the San Francisco 49ers officially have 73 players on their roster, with nine of those players members of the receiving corps.
