Here are the grades for the 49ers’ 33-14 preseason loss to the Broncos.
QUARTERBACKS: C. Brian Hoyer committed two turnovers, and his passer rating was a miniscule 58.5. But he actually didn’t play bad. He completed 8 of 11 passes (73 percent), which is extremely efficient considering he didn’t have a running game (more on that below). Hoyer was the engine of the offense. Of his three incomplete passes, two were dropped, and one of those drops led to an interception. The pick wasn’t Hoyer’s fault, although the pass was slightly behind the receiver. The fumble was Hoyer’s fault – Hoyer lost the ball when he tried to throw.
