NEW YORK -- The Padres will promote infield prospect Carlos Asuaje on Tuesday, at which time they are likely to option one of their nine relievers to Triple-A El Paso, according to team sources.
The club has not yet confirmed the news, which was first reported by FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
San Diego had initially hoped that catcher Hector Sanchez would be ready to come off the disabled list this week. He had fully recovered from the bone bruise in his right foot. But on Sunday, Sanchez hurt his hamstring while playing a rehab game for Triple-A El Paso.
