Padres Salvage Finale of Series in Philly

The San Diego Padres (63-67) beat the Philadelphia Phillies (52-79) to salvage the final game of a weekend series in Philly by the score of 9-4. James Shields earned his 10th win and he had the luxury of three Padre home runs.

Matt Kemp hit his 16th home run of the season in the first, giving the Friars a 2-0 lead. An at-bat after breaking a bat and having it fly into the stands, Justin Upton hit his 24th to extend the lead to 3-1. Yangervis Solarte hit his 11th to make it 5-1 in the top of the 7th.
