ICYMI: Friars take finale behind Shields, HRs

The Padres secured a happy flight home on Sunday afternoon after taking the series finale from the Phillies, 9-4, at Citizens Bank Park. After an almost "lights-out" outing from James Shields and a 16-hit performance by the offense, the Swinging Friars improved to 63-67 on the year, with Shields collecting his 10th victory of the season.

Shields showed great dominance over the Phillies' bats, throwing seven innings of one-run baseball on only six hits and one walk. Shields' lone mistake came via a Cameron Rupp solo home run in the second inning, but outside of that hiccup, the right-hander struck out eight and needed only 108 pitches to earn the "W.
